Visual & Performing Arts

In ommage to Alvin Ailey

Children at Discovery Charter School have the opportunity to draw, paint, produce comic strips or graphic novels, dance, sing, and act.  Starting in 2017 our students worked both with teachers from Discovery as well as with Teaching Artists through different partnerships with organizations such as NJPAC and A.I.E..

In addition to supporting our children in acquiring visual arts and performing arts skills, we provide a setting in which our students collaborate to create their own products: graphic novels, plays, as well as dance and vocal music performances.

As we strengthened and broadened our program, we experimented with ways to meaningfully integrate the arts with the other parts of our curriculum.
