    • December 9 - Some students go to It’s A Wonderful Life at the NJ Shakespeare Theater. We need two parent to help chaperone.
    • December 17 @ 5:00 - Family Arts Night & Pot-Luck Dinner - Student performances, podcast conversation, workshops, exhibit, and pot-luck dinner. Come participate and bring a dish!
    • December 23 - Winter Dance during the school day (1:30-5:00) Parents are welcome.
    • December 24-January - 4 Discovery is closed

Hello,

As the winter settles in, please remind your child to bring a school-appropriate sweater (No hoodies, plain-solid color).

Students have started practicing water-color painting techniques and will produce their own creation.

In ELA students are finishing their exploration on space colonization through essays and debates, while learning how to insert richer figurative language in their writing.

In Social Studies the week was dedicated to children presenting their final project about creating new living spaces on other planets or describing how to keep Earth working for the long term.

Children also worked on Science projects to explain why different space objects can or can not support human life.

 

 

8th graders, it is time to complete all your High School applications. 

The deadline for Essex County Tech schools is December 31. After you have submitted your application, check your email regularly to make sure you do not miss the invitation for their diagnostic test. The next test will be on Saturday December 13. Check your email to check whether or not you received an invitation.

You should also complete your applications on Newark Enrolls for district high schools and on Newark Common App for charter high schools.

Reminders: 

  • Students are marked late starting at 8:20 am. We open our doors at 7:30 am for students who need to come to school earlier. We dismiss our students between 3:45 and 4:00 pm.
  • Students need to wear tops with the school logo. You can purchase these at Land’sEnds. You can find more details about the dress code on our school uniform page..
  • Remember that you can access the 25-26 school calendar, and that you can access the Parent Portal on Realtime, or download the Realtime Parent Link app (Apple store or Google Play)
