Discovery Update for Families

  • August 18, 2025  POSTPONED Registration/Welcome Session at Discovery. We will help you upload your proofs of address on Newark Enrolls and complete the registration for NBOE. 

  • August 26 @6:30 pm - Virtual Parent Circle on Zoom if you have any last minute questions.

  • September 2 First day of school

  • September 17 @ 5:30 pm - Mandatory in-person Parent Orientation Night.
 

 

Hello!

The meal application is open on the Parent Portal. Please complete the application as soon as possible to ensure your child will receive free breakfast and lunch if eligible.

The Newark Board of Education is now requiring all parents with a child in a charter school to register on Newark Enroll and upload their three proofs of address (only one for returning students).

You will receive an email from Newark Enrolls with your username and password. Please complete your registration when you receive your lgin email to keep your seat at Discovery. We will inform you when the Newark Enroll portal is open for Discovery parents.

You can also come to Discovery on Monday August 18 at 5:30. We will help you upload your documents and complete your registration. We are postponing this session.

Registering on Newark Enrolls is now mandatory in order to attend a charter school in Newark. Your child will not be able to start at Discovery in September if they are not fully enrolled at Discovery AND on Newark Enrolls.

You can also drop your child’s uniform shirts and we will press the school logo on them for $2/shirt. You will also be able to buy logos for $2.00 each and press them yourselves.

 

 

On Tuesday August 26 at 6:30 pm, there will be a virtual Parent Circle on Zoom to answer any last minute questions you might have about your child starting at Discovery.

 

On Wednesday September 17 at 5:30, there will be a mandatory in-person Parent Orientation Night at Discovery. Please add the date to your calendar.




Invite incoming fourth graders to apply for Discovery!

We have five available spaces for incoming fourth graders. Please share our flyer with families around you or at events you attend. You can pick-up flyers at the office. You may also invite families to visit the school at any time. The application is available at NewarkCommonApp.org.

Consider posting on social media to help make Discovery known to potential 4th graders. Like our new pages on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok.

Reminders: 

 

Students are marked late starting at 8:20 am. We open our doors at 7:30 am for students who need to come to school earlier. We dismiss our students between 3:45 and 4:00 pm.

 

Students need to wear tops with the school logo. You can purchase these at Land’sEnds. You can find more details about the dress code here.
