How can I be successful at Discovery?

During our first two weeks of school, we described and practiced what teachers are expecting from their students.  What does insightful active reading look like?  How do we do math? How do we respond to a question in writing? How do we transition between classes? How do we treat each other? When do we talk, how do we hold a fruitful class conversation?  What does productive group work look and sound like? How do we have pleasant and respectful lunch conversations?  How do I get a C on my work completion card?

At the end of these two weeks, we held an assembly during which all the children were given the chance to ask their own questions to experienced Discovery students.  Topics included strategies to stay on top of our work, as well as advice about how to make friends, or how to work with a student we struggle to get along with.
