Why choose Discovery?

Discovery Charter School employs an educational framework and support system for a diverse student body that will allow students to be lifelong learners and achieve the highest standards of academic excellence while fostering convictions and a commitment to becoming outstanding citizens and leaders. Students attending Discovery are exposed to a safe, organized and dependable learning environment in a unique architectural space that fosters surprised realization, rewards from critical inquiry, and the free expression of ideas.

Through our successful, "discovery" based learning environment, students adopt the tools to be successful leaders, meaningful contributors to society, and informed decision-makers by: (i) challenging them with academic rigor and high expectations; (ii) encouraging their personal growth and intellectual curiosity; and, (iii) preparing them to master core subject matter knowledge and develop critical thinking skills to ensure their post-secondary readiness and success. As such, Discovery places  a priority on students discovering what they learn through curiosity, creativity and an appreciation of discipline — all of which serve as the building blocks to personal development and success in many walks of life — leading to  Discovery being consistently recognized as one of the top overall elementary and middle schools in New Jersey:

  • Discovery was named one of the Top Ten Elementary schools by JerseyCAN — an education research and policy organization that brings together education leaders from across the state and arms them with top-notch education research and policy analysis to enact smart education policy.
  • Discovery received a rating of 9 out of 10 stars. The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. See more at
  • Most recently, Discovery was identified by Rutgers University Professor Bruce Baker in his report, "Top 50 Efficient Producers of Achievement Gains" as the highest performing K-8 charter school in New Jersey over the past 3 years, coming in behind eight district public schools. Only one other charter school made the top fifty list, placing fiftieth.
