Messages in Motion is a program offered by Young Audiences New Jersey that works with students to introduce them to concepts of film-making, such as writing a voice over and basic cinematography.
Educator and artist Laura Deutch taught some of our students the power of video and the art of digital storytelling. Students began to develop their 1-2 minute video postcards that communicate a story about a personal experience or social theme. Messages in Motion provided them with Flip Cameras and basic editing equipment.
After a quick introduction of the basics of cinematography, Laura taught our students how to make a storyboard and soon after our students roamed the school looking for best location, persons, and angle to develop their digital message.
